Electrophysiology And Arrhythmia Services

Heart Arrhythmia Treatment in Delhi

We, the BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital offer standard Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services for expert evaluation and treatment of patients with a variety of heart rhythm disorders. Our electrophysiology team uses gentle, state-of-the-art echocardiography and advanced catheterization to evaluate arrhythmias in both adult and paediatric patients.

Our team of internationally trained experts at Heart Centre holds years of experience in performing life-saving procedures such as Radiofrequency Ablation and EP Study using 3-dimensional mapping for complex Tachycardia. Some of the other complex procedures undertaken by the Electrophysiology team include devices in heart failure pacing like AICD and Combo Implantations. They also treat Endovascular and congenital birth defects non-surgically using a 3D TEE facility at our world-class unit of Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services.

What is Arrhythmia

An arrhythmia also is known as an irregular heartbeat or cardiac dysrhythmia is a condition that occurs with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat (irregular, too slow, or too fast).

Arrhythmias are classified as:

  • Bradycardia: Slow heartbeat
  • Tachycardia: Fast heartbeat
  • Flutter or fibrillation: Irregular heartbeat
  • Premature contraction: Early heartbeat

The unit of Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services at BLK-Max is equipped with instruments and medical devices of high-precision levels to treat even the most complex cases of Arrhythmias. The staff on duty is available every hour to meet the needs of our patients.

Our approach towards Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services is enabled with AI compliance to the safely approved mechanisms, to ensure that we deliver the high-quality of treatments with positive outcomes.

We offer comprehensive support from highly trained staff in all the diagnostic assessment for treating arrhythmia. The special services available for arrhythmia patients at our electrophysiology unit include:

Diagnosis Services:

  • ECG
  • 3D TEE
  • 24 hr Ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter monitoring)
  • External Loop Recorder-For prolong (1-3 weeks) monitoring of heart rhythm
  • Exercise ECG (T.M.T.)

Arrhythmia and Pacemaker clinic:-We at Arrhythmia and Pacemaker clinic provide tertiary care services for the patients who have cardiac arrhythmias and for evaluation and programming of Implanted Pacemakers/AICD.

  • Permanent Pacemaker is a small electronic device which is implanted below the collar bone and it automatically monitors and regulates the heartbeat, by transmitting electrical impulses to stimulate the heart when it is beating too slowly.
  • Automatic implantable defibrillator (AICD) is a kind of very advanced Pacemaker. It continuously monitors your heartbeat and delivers precisely calibrated electrical shocks to correct the arrhythmia and can prevent sudden cardiac death.
  • Electrophysiology Study (EP Study) is used to study the electrical function of your heart and locate abnormal sites of electrical activity.
  • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a procedure to cure the abnormal heart rhythm by destroying the abnormal pathway or focus that causes it. It is often performed as part of an EP study. During an EP study, the abnormal pathway or focus is identified. Special catheters that deliver radiofrequency energy are introduced into the blood vessels percutaneously and directed into the heart to the site of abnormal pathway or focus. This procedure is a nonsurgical technique done under local anaesthesia with mild sedation and patient gets discharged the next day after overnight monitoring. Catheter ablation has a high success rate (95-99%) for some arrhythmias. After successful catheter ablation, the condition is usually cured and medications may no longer be necessary.

Are there any complications involved
