The Biochemistry Unit at the department performs routine and specialised biochemical tests such as therapeutic drug monitoring, tumour markers, and hormone assays. The turnaround time is on par with international standards.
The Microbiology Unit is equipped with latest and standardised equipment including BACTEC 9120, MGIT960, Phoenix BD Id/AST, Minineph, Minividas, Architect, etc. and advanced nucleic acid detection techniques for rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases.
The Haematology Unit provides a state-of-the-art investigative facility for comprehensive diagnosis of haematological disorders. It has a dedicated laboratory offering routine laboratory tests and specialised facilities for the study of haemostatic, haemolytic and oncologic disorders. Services offered at the unit
The Molecular Biology unit offers comprehensive diagnostic facilities for HLA typing. It also offers molecular tests for infectious diseases and haematological disorders that are proposed to be added in due course.
The Transfusion Medicine Unit at the department is a comprehensive unit offering safe and advanced blood transfusion services such as leuko-depleted, Micro-particle ELISA and CMIA tested blood. Our team of expert pathologists use advanced technology to collect and process blood for preparation of components, storage of blood and blood products and for apheresis procedures.
The unit is equipped with latest immuno-haematological testing techniques used for diagnosis and testing compatibility of the blood. Our unit is licensed by Drug Controller General India and follows stringent quality control practices that include testing of a defined number of units of each product for the appropriate parameters. The unit aims to promote the use of various components to ensure optimum utilisation of blood and also to ensure that the patient receives the safest possible blood by testing for various markers. Blood utilization is optimised by separating blood into its various components like platelet concentrate, red cell concentrate, fresh frozen plasma and cryo-precipitate.
We also receive samples from outside for work-up of auto and alloimmune haemolytic anaemias.
Our Transfusion Medicine unit is among one of the few transfusion Centres in the country to have received the coveted NABH accreditation from the Quality Council of India as an independent entity.
