Yes, it is possible to have liver disease without experiencing noticeable symptoms, especially in the early stages. Liver diseases can progress silently, causing damage without causing overt signs. Regular health check-ups, liver function tests, and screenings are crucial for early detection.

To book a consultation for liver diseases, contact the hospital, consult with a liver specialist, undergo diagnostic tests, receive a personalised treatment plan, and attend follow-up visits.

The blood tests for liver function and health are:

  • LFT includes ALT[Aspartate Aminotransferase], ALP[Alkaline Phosphatase]

  • Harpological Tests like tuberculosis, ultrasound, etc.

The fastest way to support liver health and repair is to adopt a healthy lifestyle, which includes:

  • Healthy Diet: Consume a well-balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Limit processed foods, sugary beverages, and excessive alcohol.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to aid liver function and flush out toxins.

  • Exercise Regularly: Regular physical activity promotes blood flow and supports overall liver health.

  • Limit Alcohol: If you consume alcohol, do so in moderation or consider abstaining to give your liver time to heal.

  • Avoid tonic circumstances which damage the liver. Excess level of drugs is not advised.

Acute liver failure (ALF) can be caused by drug-induced liver injury, viral hepatitis, excessive alcohol consumption, acetaminophen overdose, toxin exposure, autoimmune hepatitis, ischemic hepatitis, and Wilson's disease. Prompt medical attention is vital to manage the underlying cause and support liver function for better outcomes.

Yes, there is a link between acute liver failure and liver cancer. Acute liver failure can sometimes be caused by conditions that also increase the risk of developing liver cancer, such as chronic viral hepatitis (hepatitis B or C), long-term alcohol abuse, or underlying liver diseases like liver cirrhosis. While acute liver failure itself does not cause liver cancer, the conditions that lead to acute liver failure may also contribute to the development of liver cancer in some cases.

A liver transplant plays a critical role in treating acute liver failure when other treatments fail or liver damage is irreversible. It offers a chance for the patient to regain normal liver function and improve survival, but eligibility depends on various factors assessed by a transplant team.
